Lives in the Balance

The next Lives in the Balance presentation will be held January 30, 2017, in Auburn. Please join us at the Park Avenue Elementary School from 6-8 p.m.
G.E.A.R. Parent Network regularly presents Dr. Ross Greene – the founding Director of Lives in the Balance and the originator of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions as described in his books, "The Explosive Child" and "Lost at School." Dr. Greene is also an adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech.

His model suggests that challenging behavior is the byproduct of lagging skills…not lagging motivation or poor parenting. It’s better to solve those problems collaboratively and proactively. Dr. Greene’s model has helped many parents, educators and staff in various facilities – inpatient units, residential facilities and prisons – do just that, and often with dramatic effect. Maine is one of the states that has been most receptive to this approach, especially in its system of juvenile detention and public schools.

At this presentation, attendees learn the basics of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, a non-adversarial, non-punitive approach for children with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
